Who we
are?
Founded by brothers Cristian and Diuly Lovatto, Arkonnan is a Symphonic Progressive Metal band characterized by lyrical vocals and influences from Celtic and Medieval music. Their lyrics tell fantastical epic stories inspired by Arkonnan’s tales and fables from the Secret Anthology Legend Of Faun, of their own authorship.
The Legend Of Faun anthology that chronicles the legendary tales of Arkonnan, brings the story of a lineage of Fauns where the last of his generation begins to unravel the history of his ancestors, taking him on a fantastic journey through this unknown world.
To the mysterious and frozen lands of Arkonnan, a hidden energy moves, sneaking through the hills and cliffs on a perilous journey that can no longer be return...
At the dawn of the first light, where majestic dreams fly, a call in his spirit begins the long journey of the magician, set to music in the band’s first composition entitled Legendary Flame.
Composer Cristian Lovatto’s first contact with the art that inspired him was through a German who built Organs of Pipes and Barrel Organs, who introduced him to the immensity of classical music, especially the Baroque period with Johann Sebastian’s Toccatas and Fugues by Johann Sebastian Bach and his Cantatas and Concertos for Harpsichord.
“Immersed in nature I connect with the deepest part of myself, where I can hear my call.”
His inspiration for writing Arkonnan’s lyrics and music comes from his admiration for fantastic literature, medieval music, Celtic music, Far Eastern music and Gothic art (12th – 14th centuries). It is in nature that the composer searches for each melody and each word that verse the tales and fables in the band’s songs.
Over time, he became interested in string instruments, eletric guitar, acoustic guitar and especially the bass, with which he was able to develop his Progressive Metal technical lines and express his musical identity in Arkonnan.
Since childhood, Diuly Lovatto, a lyric soprano, nurtured the dream of becoming a singer. Her first musical notes resonated in the church, where young Diuly, with a guitar in hand, sang and played hymns in the youth group of the church she attended. It was Sister Eliane who, with patience and affection, guided her through the paths of music, planting the seeds of a talent that would later flourish.
At 13 years old, destiny reserved an epic moment for her: upon hearing the voice of singer Tarja Turunen for the first time on the album “Oceanborn,” brought by her brother, Diuly felt her heart resonate in harmony with classical singing. In that instant, a passion took hold of her soul, and she decided that her musical journey would be pursued through classical singing.
Upon founding the band Arkonnan, singer Diuly set out in search of vocal improvement, finding in her first singing teacher a mentor who inspired her to graduate in the art she loved so much.
Since the age of 16, Diuly sang in various choirs, where she became enchanted by the magic of polyphony, the richness of vocal dynamics, the depth of sonorities, and the art of interpretation. These elements became her constant passions, and to this day, she practices this art in the “Coro Santa Maria” of her hometown.
During her musical experience in college, Diuly was captivated by the harmony of instruments such as the piano, harpsichord, and pipe organ. This enchantment later led her to become the keyboardist of Arkonnan.
Throughout her journey, her singing talent stood out, and Diuly was invited by several choirs to act as a Vocal Coach and Singing Teacher. Since then, her training has become a continuous and constant process, diving into the studies of voice science. Her mission became to transform and position her students’ voices in the world, sharing with them the same passion and dedication that has always guided her own path.
The singer is also passionately dedicated to classical singing recitals. In the winter of 2007, even before entering college, she took the lyric stage for the first time as a special guest of the local university’s singing class. This moment marked the beginning of her journey, participating in solo recitals and concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of her hometown. The soprano made her operatic debut playing the role of Pamina in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte,” enchanting everyone with her celestial voice and captivating presence. Since then, her performances have become a spectacle of pure art and emotion, as recounted by the audience at the end of her performances.
“Being a storyteller through singing allows me to connect air and soul, conveying all emotions. The essence I seek as a singer is to make the audience experience each moment, each poetic scene, as if they were present and part of these stories, providing something they couldn’t experience elsewhere. For me, singing is where everything makes sense, it is where I connect with my core and can express my truth, establishing a deep connection with the audience.”
The harmonious union of the brothers’ intense experiences with art, shaped the band’s unique musical style and made them find their own sound in Symphonic Progressive Metal.
Throughout Arkonnan’s journey, Progressive Metal drummer Darlan Batista joined the band, adding to the compositions his technical skill and the creativity of his percussion and drum lines.
Currently, the Arkonnan trio has created the Folk Celta musical show entitled Em Terras Celtas, which brings to the stage the richness of Celtic melodies and songs, from the lyrical form of the song to the vigorous rhythms of the drums that evoke in the memory the ethereal sounds of nature.
A repertoire of Celtic Folk songs with an epic scenographic and scenic atmosphere, including special versions of the band’s compositions inspired by the Tales and Fables of Arkonnan.
“Each movement of nature carries a sound, the contagious melodies of flutes and bellows, the sound of mountains and howling winds move the pen that writes the notes on the staff. With Em Terras Celtas, the band was inspired by the desire to transport the audience from the hustle and bustle of the contemporary world, in fast and cold cycles, to deep reflection, immersed in the enchanting sounds of nature, from the crash of the waves to the light rustling of the leaves , for the imaginary of his tales set to music.
